Case Study: Building an Interactive Website From the Ground Up

How Raise a Brow Marketing Transformed Ecospill's Digital Presence

As a client with an ongoing working relationship with raise a brow marketing, Ecospill started 2025 with big plans. As one of the UK's leading spill control companies, they were celebrating 15 years in business and wanted a website that actually reflected their expertise and market position.

Their old site just wasn't cutting it anymore. They needed something that would make it easier for customers to find what they were looking for, showcase their massive product range properly, and support their growing international business.

What Ecospill Really Needed

This wasn't just about making things look prettier. Ecospill had some serious business goals:

They wanted to complete the final piece of their "15 year anniversary project" - an ambitious plan they'd been working on for eight months. The website was pillar three, following new product launches and a major industry exhibition, which we helped plan and design.

More importantly, they needed a digital platform that would actually work for their customers and distribution partners. Their was an opportunity to “do things better” when it came to people to engage with Ecospill’s products and services.

Working Together, Not Just Delivering

One thing that made this project different was how we approached it. Rather than being a  external agency that shows up, does the work, and disappears, we embedded ourselves as part of their team from day one.

We established weekly progress calls with Darren Purdy, Head of Group Sales, which became the backbone of our collaboration. These weren't just status updates - they were proper working sessions where we'd review progress, make decisions together, and keep the project moving forward.

Planning and Designing From Scratch

The project started with proper planning. We didn't just jump into design - we spent time understanding Ecospill's business inside and out.

Our planning process included:

  • Detailed user journey mapping for both customers and distribution partners

  • Content audit of their existing materials and identification of gaps

  • Technical requirements gathering for international functionality

  • Competitive analysis within the spill control industry

  • Addressing opportunities to offer Ecospill’s customer “more than just a shop front”

Once we had the strategy nailed down, we moved into design and development. But this wasn't a case of us disappearing for weeks and coming back with a finished product. Every step was collaborative.

Building Something That Actually Works

We started completely fresh. The new www.ecospill.org.uk isn't a refresh - it's a complete rebuild designed around how their customers actually behave.

What we delivered:

  • A clean, professional design that positions them as the market leaders they are

  • Proper navigation that doesn't make people hunt for what they need

  • Over 200 new product codes integrated seamlessly

  • A whole new Flood Defence category they'd been wanting to launch

  • Multi-language support for their international customers

  • Interactive tools like the Spill Score Calculator that actually add value

Another stand-out feature has to be the original videography and photography created in partnership with Blink Video in Hull. Instead of generic stock images, we took every opportunity to show Ecospill’s products being used in real situations. It makes a massive difference to how professional and credible the site feels.

The Content Challenge: Over 600 Pieces

Here's where the project got really interesting. Ecospill needed more than just a pretty website - they needed comprehensive content for their entire product range.

We co-produced over 600 datasheets and pieces of content together. This wasn't a case of us writing everything in isolation. The weekly calls with team meant we could ensure every piece of content was technically accurate and commercially relevant.

The content creation process was genuinely collaborative:

  • Ecospill provided the technical expertise and product knowledge

  • We handled the writing, design, and optimization for web use

  • Regular reviews ensured everything met their quality standards

  • Content was structured to work both on the website and for their sales team

This co-production approach meant the final content wasn't just marketing fluff - it was genuinely useful material that their customers and distribution partners could rely on.

The Results Speak for Themselves

“The new look and feel aligns us as the UK market leader, making us more professional, fresh, and modern, with brilliant product-in-use videography and a much slicker navigation experience. It's a huge step forward in making our products and services easier to access and engage with.”

What Made This Work

Honestly, the success came down to partnership rather than just service delivery. The co-production between Raise a brow marketing and Ecospill ensured we were building something that would actually work for Ecospill's business.

When I reflected on the project:

I’m really proud of the result and feel it’s a great platform for Ecospill to continue delivering excellent service to it’s distribution partners and their customers. The website is a fresh new look, more importantly paired with features which give the user experience some added value, as well as bringing in some interactive elements, which always puts a smile on the face. I’m already looking forward to enhancing it further and adding more features.
— Matt Russell

That last bit is important - this isn't a "job done, see you later" situation. We're already planning the next phase of improvements, including a Customer Portal and additional interactive features, following the moto “can we do this better”.

Why This Matters

This project shows what's possible when you find the right kind of collaboration. Ecospill didn't just need a website - they needed someone who understood their business well enough to create a platform that would actually help them grow.
